DEHNOE — Rhythm Complete / Web of Dreams

Following the full-length Clowning Around, DEHNOE is set to release two new singles. Experimenting here with vocal performance brings a new dimension to DEHNOE’s work but retains the spirit of openness to multi-genre influence that made Clowning Around so entertaining. These singles roughly honing in on indie, hip hop, and electronic music in equal parts.

Available now over at Bandcamp and rolling out across the streamers in the next few weeks.

Mia June — Moth Penny Casino/The Way It Is

Mia June’s new double-single is a strong offering on Father Daughter Records. Slow tempo, melancholic melodies, and rich, textural tones on both these tunes. Ezekiel Padmanabham nails the drums recording on ‘The Way It Is’ and ‘Moth Penny Casino’ sets Mia’s beautiful, personal vocal performance to stark piano accompaniment. The additional demo versions reveal that at the heart of this release is great songwriting and performance.

‘The Way It Is’ is the RTRFm Sound Selection for the week of April 29th, 2024.

Nathan Staggers — The Arsonist

Nathan Staggers new single ‘The Arsonist’ is something special. The texture of this track is so soft and intimate, and the playing is so natural and flowing. Really a beautiful blend of texture, melody and performance.

Odlaw — Car Door

Odlaw are back with ‘Car Door,’ out on Blue Grey Pink. The tune begins with solo guitar and vocal, adding subtle synth embellishments, and finally breaks into a down tempo, expansive band feature to bring it home. The melancholic vocal performance adds a certain seriousness to this love song, it’s weighted just right.

‘Car Door’ is in the RTRFm Sound Selection for the week of April 15th, 2024.

Kompromat — end node estimation

Kompromat release end node estimation on Burnt Seed Records. Two 30-plus-minute tracks that generate a heavy, swirling, breathing, dense atmosphere. The anguished, layered vocals of Sage Pbbbt sitting in a complex fog of synthesised sound from Lesley Kaye and Stewbags.
