Stuart Orchard — Interactive Aeolian Harp, Whaler's Tunnel

In the latest NotNotMusic Podcast Stuart Orchard discusses his new work for “interactive Aeolian Harp,” a DIY instrument that is activated by the wind and manipulated by the player.

You can find out a little more about the development of the Harp in Stuart’s Blog, derived from a research project at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. There is a rigorous description of the making of the harp, such that you could probably follow along and build one yourself!

After some research and experimentation with building Aeolian Harps, I found out that normally people don't fuck with them once they're singing in the wind. So, I figured I should. (Stuart Orchard, 2021)

Interactive Aeolian Harp - Whaler’s Tunnel was recorded by Josten Myburgh and mastered by Dan O’Connor @ENCODERSound.

The NotNotMusic Podcast series is the brain child of Josten Myburgh and Annika Moses and presents commissioned works and discussion around artistic practice and the commissioned pieces.
