L0k + DEHNOE — 6000-TB

A great collab from a subset of the Lunch Records crew of L0k and DEHNOE is out now, 6000-TB.

This record really moves through a bunch of tonal colours. My faves are the upbeat, brighter moments, “HYPO POP,”“DISCOTEK” and “ANGELS ALL GONE.” These are setup so well by the darker, heavier feeling tracks that really make the brightness pop.

DEHNOE — SYNCHRONICITY

Bringing in 2025 a couple of days early is DEHNOE’s sophomore album SYNCHRONICITY, out now on Lunch Records.

The energy is really high throughout this record, peaking at points like ‘FADED’ and ‘2002 SUBARU’ and taking moments of pause through ‘WON’T TURN BACK’ and ‘CLEAR STATIC,’ultimately resolving with ‘G,’ a beautifully open and detailed groove. ‘Honest’ and ‘flowing’ are words that come to mind as I listen.

‘The Stars They Whisper in My Ears’ music video, produced by mzy and Ayu Rahmen was nominated for at the Hollywood Music Video Awards 2025 in the Best Indie category.

DEHNOE + L0k — KEYS TO THE MAZDA

Kicking off a busy period for Lunch Records is the first single from the L0k + DEHNOE collab. TB-6000, ‘Keys to the Mazda.’

This tune finishes in a completely different place than where it starts, but somehow holds together in a very organic way. The free-wheeling, flowing, and spontaneous vocals again highlight the intuitive approach to production and writing. Any moment could go anywhere, as long as it sounds good.

Nika Mo — Panicle

‘Panicle’ is the new single from Nika Mo. A meandering pair of warm acoustic guitars sets the scene, creating a bed for beautiful multitracked harmonies, with lyrics that feel like the inner musings of someone strolling beneath shedding jacarandas. The accompanying video features said jacarandas in the suburbs of Boorloo.

This one drops into the RTRFM Sound Selection for the week of November 25th, 2024.

Ruby Taylor — The Lake

Ruby Taylor releases debut EP The Lake.

This record utilises texture, noise, and ambience to build a dark, moody world within which Ruby’s exceptional vocal performance reveals a sorrowful story. It’s all pulled together so naturally, the sonics and lyrics combining for an emotional ride.

All over streaming now and launching live at The Bird, Friday November 15th.

‘Don’t Take Her to the Lake’ has been added to the RTRFM Sound Selection for the week starting 18th November, 2024. And, ‘Meet Me at the Lake’ was added to the Fresh Picks | West Australian Music Playlist on Spotify.
